The Graveney ward sits in the south‑west of the London Borough of Merton in England, covering a largely residential part of Mitcham. It comprises a mix of Victorian and interwar housing, pockets of green space and allotments close to the River Wandle, and is well connected to central London by local buses and nearby rail and tram links.
Socially and culturally it is one of Merton’s more diverse communities, with independent shops, community centres and a blend of long‑standing families and newer residents; historically the area moved from agricultural commons into suburban development in the 19th and 20th centuries, and today small‑scale retail and light industry help shape the local economy and everyday life.
