Pollards Hill is a neighbourhood and electoral ward in the London Borough of Merton, sitting on the borough boundary with Croydon. The area occupies a modest hill with green spaces and a local park that give surprisingly broad views across London; housing is largely interwar and post‑war estate stock alongside later private homes, creating a mixed streetscape.
Historically the name evokes pollarded trees and the area developed from former farmland into council housing in the twentieth century. Today it is ethnically diverse with a strong community focus, small local shops and a community centre, and has been the subject of various regeneration programmes and grassroots initiatives aimed at improving housing, services and public space while maintaining a distinct local identity that straddles two boroughs.
