Ayresome

The Ayresome electoral ward lies in the inner suburbs of Middlesbrough, in the Tees Valley within the unitary area of ceremonial North Yorkshire. It covers a mix of Victorian terraced streets and post‑war council housing close to the town centre and the River Tees, giving residents straightforward access to shops, colleges and transport links.

The ward takes its name from the long‑demolished Ayresome Park, the former home of Middlesbrough Football Club until the move to the Riverside Stadium in 1995, and that football heritage helps shape local identity. Like much of post‑industrial Teesside, Ayresome has seen regeneration efforts alongside ongoing social and economic challenges, but active community groups, local businesses and green pockets give the area a recognisable, close‑knit character.
