Castlethorpe is a small village and civil parish on the northern edge of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, set close to the meandering River Great Ouse. It grew up around the earthworks of a Norman motte-and-bailey and still has a compact historic core of cottages and a medieval parish church, giving it a strongly rural, historic character despite proximity to the newer town.
Historically agricultural, the village now functions partly as a commuter community for Milton Keynes and nearby towns; it once had a local railway station until the 1960s. A designated conservation area, Castlethorpe retains an active social life centred on a village hall, seasonal events and a handful of local businesses and pubs that help preserve a distinct village identity.
