Ovington is a small rural parish in the district of Breckland in Norfolk, England, set into the sandy soils and open heath that characterise the Breckland landscape. It lies a few miles from the market town of Thetford and within easy reach of the A11, with the fringes of Thetford Forest close by, so it feels remote yet well connected.
Historically the village developed as an agricultural settlement and still shows a compact core of older buildings, often built in local flint and brick, together with scattered farmsteads. The local economy remains rooted in farming and forestry, with some residents commuting to nearby towns, while the surrounding heathland supports notable Breckland wildlife; community life is quietly cohesive, organised around the parish church, village events and the rhythms of the farming year.
