Scarning is a village and civil parish in Breckland, Norfolk, lying just to the south‑west of the market town of Dereham. It occupies gently rolling agricultural countryside typical of mid‑Norfolk and combines residential streets and small pockets of light industry with surrounding farmland, with straightforward road links into Dereham and onward to Norwich.
Historically a farming community with medieval roots, Scarning today has a mixed population of long‑standing local families and commuters, a primary school and a cluster of village organisations that centre community life around the church and village hall. The parish retains a strong village identity despite incremental expansion, offering local clubs, occasional events and pleasant country walks that reflect its rural character.
