Freethorpe is a small rural village and civil parish in the district of Broadland, in the county of Norfolk, England. It sits on the fringe of the low-lying fen and arable landscape that characterises this part of the county, not far from the waterways and habitats of the Norfolk Broads and within easy reach of Norwich, so it combines a quiet agricultural setting with good access to larger centres and leisure boating country.
The village has the feel of a traditional Norfolk community: farming and countryside are important to the local economy, while parish life and community activities help maintain a social heart. Historic roots are visible in the layout and older buildings, and today many residents commute to nearby towns for work while village institutions and occasional local events keep a strong sense of place.
