Burlingham is a largely rural ward in the district of Broadland, in the county of Norfolk, sitting within easy reach of Norwich. The landscape is typical of the Broadland area - low-lying, agricultural land with hedged fields, drainage ditches and pockets of wetland that attract a variety of wildlife, making it pleasant for walking and birdwatching.
Locally the economy is driven by farming and small businesses, with many residents also commuting into nearby towns. Social life tends to centre on village halls, churches and the occasional pub; the area retains a strong sense of community and a number of historic farmhouses and cottages speak to its long rural heritage.
