Salhouse is a small village in the Broadland district of Norfolk, about a short train ride from Norwich and sitting on the edge of the Norfolk Broads. Its most striking geographic feature is Salhouse Broad, a quiet, reed-fringed expanse popular with birdwatchers, anglers and small-boat users, and surrounded by marshes, lanes and traditional Norfolk farmland.
Locally the community mixes agricultural roots with a commuter and tourism economy: there are thatched cottages, a historic parish church, a village hall and a pub that help keep village life active, while the broad and its wildlife draw nature enthusiasts and small-scale leisure boating. Conservation and rural traditions remain important, so Salhouse feels very much like a living Broads village with both quiet charm and seasonal tourists.
