Hunstanton sits on the Norfolk coast in the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk, Norfolk, England, facing out over The Wash. It is best known for the striking striped cliffs of mixed red and white rock close to the seafront and for being one of the few east‑coast resorts where you can watch the sun set over the sea. A wide promenade, sandy beaches and nearby saltmarshes and dunes give it a strong natural appeal, popular with walkers and birdwatchers.
The modern town was laid out in the Victorian era by the local Le Strange landowners and has kept the feel of a traditional seaside resort: amusements, family holiday parks and a seasonal economy centred on tourism. Its proximity to Old Hunstanton and nature reserves makes it a mix of local history, coastal geology and wildlife interest rather than a purely commercial resort, and it remains a lively spot for day‑trippers and longer stays.
