Scole is a compact village and civil parish in the district of South Norfolk, in the county of Norfolk, England. It sits close to the county boundary with Suffolk, alongside the gentle lowlands of the Waveney Valley and not far from the River Waveney, making it part of the broader landscape that leads towards the Norfolk Broads. The village occupies a spot on a longstanding east–west road route and is a short drive from the market town of Diss, which shapes much of its local connectivity and services.
Historically agricultural, Scole retains a rural character with several traditional buildings, inns and small businesses catering to local needs, while many residents commute to nearby towns. The village also has an unusual cultural footnote: it was associated with the well-known 1990s spiritualist sessions often referred to as the Scole Experiment, which attracted national interest. Today it’s a quiet community valued for its countryside setting, historic feel and easy access to surrounding Norfolk and Suffolk landscapes.
