Puxton is a small civil parish in North Somerset set on the low-lying Somerset Levels, not far from the coast and the larger town of Weston-super-Mare. Its landscape of flat fields, drainage ditches and peat soils reflects centuries of reclamation and farming, and the area around Puxton Moor is noted for its wildlife and wetland interest.
The community is compact and largely rural, with an economy traditionally based on arable and grazing agriculture and many people travelling to nearby towns for work and services. The parish has historic roots that are still visible in its built and agricultural pattern, while nature reserves and a family farm attraction attract visitors interested in the Levels’ mix of landscape, wildlife and local history.
