Yatton in North Somerset sits on the southern edge of the Somerset Levels, roughly a dozen miles west of Bristol and close to the Mendip Hills and Cheddar. It retains a rural village character despite being popular with commuters, and is served by Yatton railway station on the Bristol–Exeter line; the old junction for the Strawberry Line is now a well-used cycle and walking route.
With medieval roots visible in its church and street pattern, Yatton combines agriculture, small local businesses and some light industry with an active community life - clubs, events and markets - and easy access to outdoor pursuits such as walking, cycling and birdwatching in the nearby hills and lowlands. Its history and setting give it a pleasant balance of village atmosphere and good connectivity to urban amenities.
