Bridgwater is a historic market town in Somerset, England, sitting on the mouth of the River Parrett close to the Bristol Channel. It grew up as an important port and industrial centre with Georgian streets, the old docks and the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal, and you can still spot traces of its past in places like the remains of Bridgwater Castle and the town’s old warehouse architecture.
Today Bridgwater combines a lively local culture - famously the long-running Guy Fawkes illumination carnival - with light industry, logistics and links to nearby projects such as Hinkley Point. Its position near Bridgwater Bay and wetlands also gives it valuable natural habitats and easy access to larger centres such as Taunton while retaining a strong community feel.
