Seamer is a sizeable village and civil parish just west of Scarborough in North Yorkshire, England, sitting on the edge of the coastal plain below the North York Moors. It has a mix of farmland, housing and small industrial areas, is close to the A64 and is served by a railway station on the York–Scarborough line, which helps link it to larger towns and the wider region.
The village has deep roots - it appears in early records and the medieval parish church of St Martin still stands - and the nearby RAF Seamer airfield played a role in both world wars. Today Seamer combines commuter living with agriculture and a modest local economy, and benefits culturally and economically from proximity to the seaside at Scarborough and the recreational draws of the North York Moors, supported by active community groups, village shops and schools.
