Tholthorpe is a small village and civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, set in gently rolling agricultural countryside not far from York and the Howardian Hills. The settlement is low‑density and rural, with farmsteads, hedged fields and a quiet village street giving it a distinctly pastoral feel.
The parish has a notable wartime legacy in the nearby RAF Tholthorpe airfield, used by bomber squadrons during the Second World War and still remembered by local memorials and remnants in the landscape. Today the local economy is largely agricultural with a number of residents commuting to nearby towns, and community life centres on village events, the church and informal rural networks that preserve local character.
