Harbottle

The small upland village and civil parish of Harbottle sits in the northern reaches of Northumberland, England, tucked on the edge of the Cheviot Hills and within easy reach of Northumberland National Park. The landscape is defined by moorland, drystone walls and the atmospheric ruin of Harbottle Castle, a medieval stronghold that hints at the area’s borderland past and long association with hunting forests and sheep farming.

Today the community is very small and largely agricultural, with sheep and grouse management alongside a modest tourism trade of hillwalkers and history enthusiasts. Social life tends to centre on village events and the surrounding uplands, while larger market towns such as Alnwick provide the nearest services and amenities.
