Riding Mill is a small village in Northumberland, set in the Tyne Valley on the banks of the River Tyne, roughly between Hexham and Newcastle upon Tyne. It developed around a riverside mill and crossing, and today combines attractive stone cottages and modern housing with a railway station on the Tyne Valley line that makes it a popular commuter base.
The village retains a strong local community with a school, village hall, church and a pub, and is valued for riverside walks, country lanes and its quiet rural character. Its history is rooted in milling and river transport, while its location gives easy access to nearby market towns and the wider Northumberland countryside.
