High Marnham is a small riverside village in the district of Bassetlaw, in Nottinghamshire, England, set on the eastern bank of the River Trent close to the twin hamlets of Marnham and Low Marnham. The settlement sits amid low-lying agricultural land and floodplain, so the surrounding riverside habitats and open fields make it a quiet spot for walking and birdwatching, while larger services are reached in nearby East Retford.
The village’s character has been shaped by 20th‑century industry as well as farming: the now-demolished High Marnham power station was a prominent local employer and landmark, and traces of the old railway infrastructure that once served the area remain of interest to industrial heritage enthusiasts. Today it is a small, largely residential community with a mix of farming, commuting and recreational use of the riverside and former transport corridors.
