Shireoaks is a small village and civil parish in the Bassetlaw district of Nottinghamshire, England, situated a few miles east of Worksop and within commuting distance of Sheffield and Retford. It grew up around the 19th-century coal industry - the old Shireoaks colliery shaped much of the built environment - so you still see a mix of miners’ terraces, later suburban housing and surrounding farmland.
The village lies beside the River Ryton and close to parkland around Shireoaks Hall, a historic country house, with a local lake popular for angling and informal watersports. There’s a small railway station and a handful of community clubs, and today Shireoaks largely functions as a residential village that retains clear traces of its industrial and rural heritage.
