Radcliffe on Trent is a large village and civil parish in the borough of Rushcliffe, Nottinghamshire, England, sitting on the east bank of the River Trent about five miles east of Nottingham. Its name derives from Old English for “red cliff”, a nod to the coloured river cliffs, and the village combines attractive Georgian and Victorian housing with a conservation area and a railway station offering regular services into Nottingham and beyond, so it has a strong commuter presence alongside long‑standing local business trade.
The community has a lively village feel with independent shops, pubs and active sports and social clubs (cricket, football and walking groups are popular), while riverside paths and nearby green spaces draw walkers and birdwatchers. There are also a number of listed buildings and local history interests dating back centuries, giving Radcliffe on Trent a mix of suburban convenience, rural scenery and historic character.
