Failsworth is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham in Greater Manchester, England, lying a few miles east of Manchester city centre. Historically part of Lancashire, it grew rapidly in the 19th century with textile mills and associated worker housing clustered along waterways such as the River Medlock and the Rochdale Canal, and many Victorian terraces still shape its streetscape.
Today Failsworth is largely a suburban, commuter-focused community with a mixed local economy of shops, light industry and services, and is served by the Manchester Metrolink which gives quick tram access to Manchester and Oldham. Local identity remains strong, with community sports clubs, green spaces and small events that reflect its industrial past and contemporary residential character.
