Woodhouses is a small, semi-rural village on the edge of Oldham in Greater Manchester, historically part of Lancashire. Set close to the lower slopes of the Pennines, it retains a village feel with pockets of green space and a mix of older stone housing and newer homes, sitting just within easy reach of the larger urban centres.
Historically the area shares Oldham’s industrial past in textile manufacturing, but today the local economy is largely residential with many people commuting into Manchester and surrounding towns. Community life is compact and neighbourly, and the location appeals to those who want countryside accessibility without losing links to the amenities of the nearby towns.
