Droylsden West is a ward in the borough of Tameside, in Greater Manchester, sitting a few miles east of Manchester and close to Ashton-under-Lyne. The area is largely suburban, with a mix of Victorian and inter‑war terraces, post‑war council housing and newer developments, and benefits from pockets of green space along the River Tame and nearby canal corridors.
Like much of the locality, Droylsden West has roots in the 19th‑century textile and allied industries, and today functions largely as a residential and commuter neighbourhood with local shops, small industrial estates and active community groups and sports clubs. The ward retains a strong local identity, with churches, community centres and informal social networks that mark it out within the wider Tameside conurbation.
