Audenshaw is a suburb on the eastern fringe of Greater Manchester, within the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside, a few miles east of Manchester and close to Ashton-under-Lyne, Denton, Dukinfield and Stalybridge. It sits above the Tame Valley - notably the Audenshaw Reservoirs and Audenshaw Hill provide open water and upland green space with wide views towards the city and the Pennines.
Originally a rural township that grew in the 19th century with textile mills and coal workings, Audenshaw still shows that industrial heritage in its Victorian terraces alongside later suburban housing, and today functions largely as a residential, commuter community in Tameside. Local shops, sports clubs and community groups are active, and the area is well connected by bus, the nearby Guide Bridge station and quick access to the M60, making it a relatively quiet but well‑linked part of the region.
