The area sits in northern Oxfordshire within the district of Cherwell, taking in the riverside village of Cropredy, the cluster known collectively as the Sibfords (Sibford Gower and Sibford Ferris) and the historic settlement of Wroxton. It’s predominantly rural farmland and limestone-built villages, close to Banbury and within commuting distance of Oxford, with the River Cherwell and winding lanes giving the area a strong conservation and agricultural character.
Culturally the area punches above its weight: Cropredy hosts the well-known folk-rock Cropredy Convention and the locality is marked by the Civil War clash at Cropredy Bridge, while Wroxton Abbey is a striking 17th-century house used for events and study abroad programmes. Economically it’s a mix of farming, small local services and commuters, and socially the villages are noted for tight-knit community life, pretty cottages and active parish activity.
