Upper Heyford is a village in the Cherwell district of Oxfordshire, England, set in the agricultural countryside a few miles north of Bicester. It is best known for the former RAF Upper Heyford airbase - a prominent Cold War‑era United States Air Force station - whose runways and hangars dominate the local landscape and have been partly redeveloped as Heyford Park.
The military legacy gives the village an unusual mix of historic farmsteads and 20th‑century military architecture; community life centres on a village hall and local pubs, while many residents commute to Oxford or Bicester or work in businesses on the redeveloped airfield. The surrounding farmland and footpaths offer pleasant walking country, and the area is often noted for its layered history and ongoing adaptation from airbase to civilian neighbourhood.
