Blackbird Leys is a large residential area on the south‑eastern edge of Oxford in Oxfordshire, England, originally developed as a post‑war council estate. Its location next to the car‑manufacturing district of Cowley - historically anchored by Morris Motors - shaped much of its economy and identity, while easy bus links mean the city centre is only a short journey away.
The estate has a strong community scene with parks, community centres and local sports and youth projects, and has seen sustained regeneration and investment in recent years. Like many large council areas it has faced social and economic challenges, but residents and local organisations are often credited with a resilient, active community spirit and a rich local culture.
