Chalgrove is a village and civil parish in South Oxfordshire, in the county of Oxfordshire, England. It sits on the small Chalgrove Brook a few miles south‑east of Oxford and is characterised by a mix of stone and brick cottages and the medieval parish church of St Mary the Virgin. The locality is remembered for the skirmish at Chalgrove Field in 1643 during the Civil War, where the Parliamentarian leader John Hampden was wounded, an episode still marked in local memory.
Modern Chalgrove blends agriculture with commuter life and small businesses; the nearby former wartime Chalgrove Airfield has been adapted for light industry, aircraft maintenance and general aviation. Village life is centred on a primary school, pubs, a village hall and sports clubs, giving it a lively community atmosphere while remaining rooted in its rural past.
