Lyford is a small village and civil parish in the Vale of White Horse district of Oxfordshire, England, lying in the low-lying valley of the River Ock. It’s a compact, largely rural settlement of traditional cottages and farm buildings set among arable fields and the gentle chalk downland that characterises the Vale.
The village retains several historic buildings, including an old parish church and large farmhouses, and was administratively part of Berkshire until local government changes in 1974. Its economy remains dominated by farming and small local enterprises, and socially it has the quiet, close-knit feel of many small English villages with occasional community events rather than much in the way of urban amenities.
