Uffington is a small village in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, England, set on the chalk downland of the Berkshire Downs. It is best known for the prehistoric Uffington White Horse cut into White Horse Hill, a late Bronze or early Iron Age hill figure overlooked by the Iron Age hillfort Uffington Castle and the curious local landmarks Dragon Hill and the Blowing Stone, with the ancient track of The Ridgeway passing nearby.
The village retains a distinctly rural character with farming at its heart, while archaeology, walking and heritage tourism - much of the area being National Trust land - support local services and bring visitors from market towns such as Wantage and Faringdon. Its mix of dramatic chalk scenery, deep history and local legends gives Uffington a strong sense of place despite its small size.
