Baulking is a small, largely rural village and civil parish in the Vale of White Horse district of Oxfordshire, England. Set amid rolling farmland and chalk downland, it retains a compact village feel of historic cottages and lanes rather than modern sprawl; the landscape around it reflects the agricultural character of the vale and the wider downs to the south.
Historically the parish has deep roots and, like much of the vale, was transferred from Berkshire to Oxfordshire in the 1974 reorganisation. Today the community is small and close-knit, with local social life centred on village events and rural pursuits, while many residents work in nearby towns or commute to centres such as Oxford and Swindon, maintaining a balance between traditional agricultural activity and commuter living.
