The village and civil parish of West Hanney sits in the Vale of White Horse district of Oxfordshire in England, a few miles from the market town of Wantage. It occupies low-lying agricultural country in the valley of the River Ock, with streams, meadows and traditional hedgerow patterns that give the area its distinctly rural character.
Historically part of Berkshire until the 1974 local government changes, West Hanney is one of the long-established Hanney communities and retains many historic buildings, including a medieval parish church, a village hall and a local pub; the local economy remains largely rooted in farming even as many residents commute to nearby towns, and an active village life is maintained through clubs, events and conservation-minded groups.
