Greasbrough is a ward and former mining village in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, in South Yorkshire, England. It sits on the north‑western edge of Rotherham town and still shows its industrial past in rows of red‑brick terraces and former pit sites; remnants of that coal‑mining heritage shape the local landscape and community identity.
Today the area combines older neighbourhoods with council housing and pockets of newer development, and many residents commute into Rotherham or nearby Sheffield for work. Local life centres on community halls, schools and small shops, with easy access to countryside on the urban fringe; like much of the borough it has seen regeneration efforts aimed at improving housing, services and employment opportunities.
