Crosby is a coastal town on the northern fringe of the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton in England, a short journey north of Liverpool. It sits beside the Irish Sea and Liverpool Bay, with a long promenade and the well known stretch of sand at Crosby Beach that hosts Antony Gormley’s iron figures, "Another Place", drawing walkers, photographers and surfers to the shoreline.
Historically Crosby grew as a Victorian and Edwardian suburb and still shows that mix of terraces, villas and newer housing; neighbourhoods range from the genteel Blundellsands to the quieter village of Little Crosby, which has a long local history. Today it is largely a residential and commuter area with local shops and community activities centred on places such as Waterloo; the beach and nearby River Mersey views remain important to both the town’s identity and its visitor economy.
