Ravenmeols is an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, Merseyside, occupying part of the coastal belt around Formby. The ward contains stretches of dune and pinewood countryside along the Irish Sea that form part of the protected Sefton Coast, valued for its wildlife – notably red squirrels, migrating birds and a popular network of walking trails and beaches.
Today the area is largely residential with a commuter catchment into Liverpool, a modest local economy of shops and services, and a steady stream of visitors who come for nature and seaside recreation. The place name carries local history too, echoing earlier settlements and stories of shifting sands; conservation and community life sit side by side in a landscape that feels both suburban and remarkably coastal.
