Cleobury Mortimer is a small market town and civil parish in south Shropshire, England, set in the shallow valley of the River Rea on the edge of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It grew up as a medieval market centre under the Mortimer family after the Norman Conquest, and the town still shows a compact historic high street with timber-framed buildings and an old church and motte that hint at its past.
Today the parish retains a distinctly rural character: agriculture, small trades and local services remain important, while walkers and cyclists visit for the surrounding hills. Community life is lively for a place of its size, centred on the market, independent shops, clubs and occasional local events, giving it a village‑town atmosphere that serves the wider countryside.
