Halesowen is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, in the West Midlands conurbation, lying to the south‑west of Birmingham. Historically part of Worcestershire, the town grew up around the medieval Halesowen Abbey and still shows layers of history from abbey lands to Victorian terraces and civic buildings.
Once linked to the small‑scale metalworking trades of the Black Country, Halesowen is now largely residential with a busy high street, green spaces such as Haden Hill Park (with its Victorian house and museum) and local institutions like Halesowen College. Good road connections make it a popular commuter base for nearby cities, while markets, community groups and annual events maintain a distinct local identity.
