Pontesbury is a large rural village and civil parish about six miles south‑west of Shrewsbury in Shropshire. It sits among rolling farmland and low hills with countryside views that reach towards the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones, making it popular with walkers while still being within easy commuting distance of the county town.
Historically the area has an agricultural base with a past of local mining and quarrying, and today combines farming with small businesses and many residents who commute for work. The community is lively for its size, centred on local shops, pubs, a village hall, churches, sports clubs and active societies that preserve local history and run regular events, giving the parish a strong village‑community feel.
