Richard's Castle is a small rural parish on the Shropshire side of the county boundary, the settlement famously straddling the border with Herefordshire. It occupies gentle, undulating countryside above the Teme valley and is marked by the earthwork remains of an early Norman motte-and-bailey castle founded soon after the Conquest, together with an ancient parish church showing Norman fabric - both reminders of its medieval origins.
Today the area is largely agricultural with mixed farms, holiday cottages and a handful of local businesses, while many residents commute to nearby market towns such as Ludlow and Tenbury Wells. A small, active community gathers around the village hall and church, and the parish attracts walkers and heritage visitors interested in tranquillity, country pursuits and local history.
