Bevois is an inner-city ward just north of Southampton city centre, straddling the slopes down towards the River Itchen. It takes its name from the local legend of Bevis of Hampton, best remembered in the small green of Bevois Mount where an ancient mound and park sit amid a tightly packed urban street pattern.
