Wynyard is a semi-rural estate and village within the borough of Stockton-on-Tees in County Durham, on the edge of the Teesside conurbation. It grew up around the 19th‑century Wynyard Hall, a grand country house once belonging to the Londonderry family, and much of the original landscaped parkland remains visible in the form of mature woodland, ornamental lakes and parkland walks.
Today Wynyard mixes heritage with more recent development: there are upmarket residential areas such as Wynyard Park, leisure amenities including golf and country‑club facilities, and a business park that draws commuters to nearby Middlesbrough and the wider Teesside economy. The area is generally seen as relatively affluent and family‑oriented, with a strong local feel despite its proximity to larger urban centres.
