Bawdsey is a small coastal village on the south bank of the River Deben in East Suffolk, Suffolk, England, looking across to the shingle spit of Orford Ness and the North Sea. The village has a quay with seasonal river crossings and is popular with walkers, birdwatchers and sailors, with easy day‑trip access to Felixstowe and Ipswich.
Historically it is best known for Bawdsey Manor, where pioneering radar research began in the 1930s and the site later served as an RAF station; a small museum and heritage interest draw visitors. Today the community is largely residential with tourism, heritage and local agriculture supporting the local economy, giving the place a quiet, maritime character.
