Walberswick is a small coastal village and civil parish on the south bank of the River Blyth, opposite Southwold, in East Suffolk, Suffolk, England. The settlement sits beside a long shingle beach, dunes and reed-fringed marshes opening to the North Sea, creating striking scenery that attracts walkers, birdwatchers and sailors.
Once a medieval port with a later history of fishing and smuggling, the village now depends heavily on tourism and the arts: galleries, cafés, pubs, sailing and traditional crabbing are prominent, alongside many holiday homes and a small year‑round community. Much of the surrounding heath and marsh is protected by conservation bodies and the National Trust, so the area combines a lively seasonal economy with notable wildlife and landscape interest.
