Byfleet is a village in the borough of Elmbridge in Surrey, England, sited beside the River Wey and the Wey Navigation. It has a long history - recorded in the Domesday Book - and still shows a mix of historic cottages, an old parish church and later suburban infill; parts of the village are protected as a conservation area. Its close proximity to the former motor‑racing and aviation hub at Brooklands in Weybridge shaped local employment and character during the 20th century.
Today Byfleet functions largely as a commuter and residential community, with rail links at Byfleet & New Haw and easy access to Woking, West Byfleet and London. Leisure on the riverside, nearby green spaces and active local clubs and events sustain a strong community feel, while the local economy has shifted from industrial roots towards services and commuting.
