Harestone is an electoral ward in the district of Tandridge, in Surrey, sitting on the northern fringe of the Surrey Hills and close to the towns of Caterham and Warlingham. The area is largely suburban and residential, occupying rising ground around Harestone Hill and bordering greenbelt countryside, so it combines pockets of Victorian and mid‑twentieth century housing with easy access to open spaces and good local views.
Community life is anchored by small parades of shops, schools and active residents’ groups; economically it is dominated by local services and commuters travelling into London and neighbouring centres such as Croydon. The ward’s development followed the arrival of rail connections in the nineteenth century, and today it offers a quiet, village‑fringe character while remaining well connected to larger urban amenities.
