Lingfield is a village and civil parish in the district of Tandridge in Surrey, England, set around a well-preserved village common and pond fed by the River Eden. It feels distinctly rural with timber-framed buildings and a compact High Street, yet remains within commuting distance of London thanks to a local railway station.
Locally it is best known for Lingfield Park Racecourse, which together with the adjacent parkland provides leisure and employment, while the medieval parish church of St Peter and St Paul and the conservation area around the common underline the village’s long history. The present-day economy mixes local services, leisure and equestrian activity with a commuter population, and community life revolves around local events, the cricket green and independent shops.
