The civil parish of Central Swindon South (parish) sits across the southern side of Swindon's town centre, covering neighbourhoods just south of the railway line. Created following a community governance review in 2017, it includes a compact mix of town-centre streets, shopping areas and nearby residential districts, making it one of the borough’s more urban parishes.
With strong 19th‑century railway roots the area still wears its industrial heritage around the Railway Village and related landmarks, while economically it blends retail, offices and leisure - from town-centre shops and outlet-style retail to cultural venues such as the Wyvern Theatre. Ongoing regeneration has brought new housing and public‑space improvements, and its central position gives quick access to the M4 and the countryside of the North Wessex Downs.
