Wroughton is a large village and civil parish on the southern edge of Swindon in Wiltshire, England, sitting on the chalk of the North Wessex Downs about four miles south of the town centre and within easy reach of the M4. The surrounding landscape is classic downland countryside and the area lies close to notable prehistoric sites such as Avebury.
The village has an active community life with pubs, sports clubs, a primary school and regular local events, and many residents commute into Swindon. Historically it’s perhaps best known for RAF Wroughton, the former airfield that now houses the Science Museum’s large collections store, giving the village an unusual cultural and economic link beyond agriculture and local services.
