Stratton St. Margaret is a long-established parish to the east of Swindon in north-eastern Wiltshire, now largely absorbed into the town’s suburbs. Once a small agricultural village with medieval roots, it sits close to major transport links and comprises a mix of housing, open green spaces and industrial estates.
Locally it retains a village feel centred on community halls, clubs and the parish church of St Margaret, while economically the area is notable for light industry and business parks that expanded in the 20th century and still provide local employment. That combination of historic buildings and commuter-era development gives the area a distinctive, mixed character within the wider Swindon conurbation.
